These sweet little vintage children's book was made sometime during the 1960's and features a great overall history of the South Pacific with beautiful illustrations. I love the first paragraph of this book, it reads:
"It was Tuesday, September 27, 1513. A man stood alone on the shoulder of a mountain in the Isthmus of Panama. To the west the land fell away in the hills. Beyond the hills lay the sea, shining in the sun, stretching out as far as the man could see."
The book talks about the "discovery" of the South Pacific and what life is like for the people who live in places like Hawaii, Guam, New Zealand and The Philippines.
The cover of this book has been marked up by a pen, but the image is still in good shape. Binding and pages are in good shape, with a couple of small marks.
